Translation of “Session” App for iOS/iPadOS/macOS
I recently had the pleasure of collaborating on the Japanese translation of the popular time productivity app for Apple devices, Session (stayinsession.com) by Philip Young. I use this app daily for blocking out times and sticking to specific objectives. I'm extremely pleased that Japanese users can now take advantage of the app in their own language as well.
Building Daily Creative Habits
I spent a great deal of my teenage years in my basement working on composing and recording original music, and that creative “habit” stuck with me all the way until I came to Nagoya in 1994 and started working in the automotive industry. Although I was swept away by the distractions of life and allowed the habit to practically rust away for many years until I finally said goodbye to my full-time position as project developer and translator at ITP Japan in June 2012, the dream of reaching out to people and somehow making a difference in the world through music never left me.
To help me to revive the practice of working on original music regularly, I've been inspired by Matt D'Avella's “Simple Habits” course (www.slowgrowth.com), and am in the middle of a daily creative challenge to work on at least 20 minutes a day of original music. It isn't easy to do something consistently for a certain amount of time each day without a good dose of motivation and an honest look at where your weak points are, but the process has been rewarding so far, and I hope to share the fruits of my results on my SoundCloud channel among other places in the near future. Stay tuned to see how it goes!
